It’s hard to believe that 5 months have passed since the last post on the TTIK site. Obviously I took the concept of “Freedom” to also mean freedom from posting updates.

A lot has changed since the last post. The importance of Freedom still rings true in many areas, but the biggest topic I want to address again is SMR: Small, Measurable, Results.

Whether your goal is to lose weight, get in better shape, make $500 more per month or meet the person of of your dreams you need to set goals for yourself. It all starts with your first goal.

People are afraid of failure so they often never even try. Those people that are successful are the people that have forgotten about fear, set their goals and reached them. The feeling of accomplishment is amazing and it drives you to continue and create bigger and better goals.

You may want to create a full-time income online and to do that you need to earn at least $65,000 per year. That’s a big chunk of change, but when you break it down into manageable goals you can accomplish it.

Start with just trying to make an extra $100.00 per month. That alone could cover the cost of your cell phone, cable bill or extra groceries. Then shoot for $500, $1000 and so on. When you reach your first goal your motivation is going to sore…you’re going to get in tune with what needs to be done and you will get focused quickly.

1 out of 10 online marketers end up giving up their online dreams because they can’t seem to reach their dream of 45k in 30 days by pushing a button. The only marketers making money like that are the marketers that are getting YOU to push THEIR buy button. Don’t fall for that.

Another very important rule for setting a goal is being accountable for reaching it. Share your goal with friends, colleagues or anyone that is going to motivate and push you. They must hold you accountable for reaching your goal and encourage you to achieve it.

Nothing will motivate you more than someone cheering you on and telling you that they believe in you. Stay away from the negative nay-sayers and surround yourself with believers and doers. Staying positive is important.

In some upcoming posts I’m going to share some results in a variety of areas that I’ve been involved with over the last 5 months. I’ve set several goals and with the help of close friends I’ve reached and exceeded those goals very quickly. It all has to do with encouragement, the size of your goal and the timeframe.

2010 has flown by and now it’s time to look at what 2010 had to offer us in the Internet Marketing industry and what I plan on setting for my own theme for 2011.

It’s no surprise that there were hundreds of ‘Big Launches” that took place in 2010. Most offering nothing but the same rehashed garbage designed to take your money.

Yes, I said it. There were tons of low value, low quality products boasting how they could teach you to make $45, 129 in 30 days.

Most of my readers know that I don’t and won’t suggest or promote any product unless I use it myself or have looked through it personally. Sometimes I received advanced free copies of the products, but most of the time I buy them myself.

Regardless of how I get access to the product, if it’s trash you won’t hear about it from me. Thus, if you’re on my email newsletter list you probably haven’t received many emails from me in 2010 for that reason.

(If you’re not on my email newsletter list you should signup, I give away lots of cool stuff there)

So, in 2011 I’ve decided that I wanted a theme I could run my business and life by.

Something that we all take for granted here in the US and worldwide.

The theme for 2011 is Freedom. Not just the Freedom that most of us experience in our every lives, like the ability to say what you’d like, live where you want and do as you wish (in most cases). That’s the Freedom that previous generations fought for and continue to fight for.

What I’m talking about is Freedom that you create.

You can create the Freedom from negativity.

You can create the Freedom to enjoy the life you want.

You can create the Freedom of being able to afford to pay your bills, live in the house you’d like, take care of your family and enjoy great vacations.

You can do all of this, but like those before us, you need to work, and sometimes fight for it.

Think about this…

This last year, how many different products to you buy that were supposed to make a difference in just days or hours for you?

And this last year, how long did you work with those products before you just stopped and gave up because you didn’t see instant results?

Think back to what you did last January and how you wanted to start 2010. Did you do it? Did you accomplish it? My guess is, you didn’t.

Now, imagine where you could be right now had you stuck with a plan and accomplished something each day. 1 Year later you’d likely be making some, and maybe a lot of money. However, odds are, you’re not.

I’m NOT going to tell you it’s NOT YOUR FAULT. Honestly, it is your fault. You didn’t follow through.

Now maybe it was the plan or product you purchased that just didn’t give you the step by step instructions you needed. Or maybe you just couldn’t afford the tools you needed to make everything happen. Sure, that’s likely.

But what did you do to fix that problem?

I can say all of this, because I’ve been there.

I’ve experienced this in business, in life, in my own goals of losing weight.

Each day I’d “give it a shot” and if I didn’t see results in a few days I’d want to give up. That was clearly the wrong approach. I was too busy looking at the big picture and my end goal instead of the my milestones along the way.

Let’s take my weight loss goal as an example. I want to lose 35lbs-40lbs. Back in July of ’10 I set out on that goal. After a week of eating right and working out I hadn’t seen any results. I didn’t look thinner, the scale didn’t say I weighed less and I felt miserable about it. However, I kept pushing on.

In hindsight I should have taken a better approach to keep myself motivated. However, after 2 weeks I started to see results. Today, almost 6 months later, I’m down 29lbs, almost at my goal. Here’s how I changed my thinking.

Instead of looking at the end goal of 40lbs, I’m looking at the smaller, achievable and measurable accomplishments.

Each week I want to get to the gym at least 4 times and I want to run at least 10 miles per week. If I do that, I know I’m accomplishing something. The act of getting to the gym will help me lose the weight I want and it’s done in small chunks. Day by Day.

How SMR Can Help You…

Small Measurable Results can be applied to everything you do.

So, you want the Freedom of debt, Freedom from your job, Freedom of travel. The question is, what is your first step to get there?

Well, if you want to make money online you aren’t doing to do it all in one day unless you have your own product and the top 100 affiliates in the internet marketing world behind you.

Instead, you are going to make little moves each day to get you toward your goal.

Day 1: Do some research of what people want and what’s selling. It could be as simple as spending a few hours surfing the web for ideas.

Day 2: Take your idea and plan how to get people to see your offer. Maybe it’s a website, a facebook fan page, your own blog, your twitter account, a Youtube video. Right now, it’s just a plan.

Day 3: Begin putting your plan in place. If you’re building a website or blog, find a domain name and hosting company. Get the basics done and walk away. Feel like you’ve accomplished something.

Day 4: Spiff up your website with some graphics and a few posts about what you’re promoting. Simple stuff. Just get it done.

Day 5: Write some articles or content for your website or to put out there in article directories. Spend an hour, nothing more.

Day 6: Bookmark your website on sites like StumbleUpon, Digg and tell your friends about it.

Day 7: Create a Youtube video, submit some more articles to article directories, do some more bookmarking.

It’s now a week later and look at what you’ve accomplished by spending just a few hours a day. At most, we’ve spent 1-2 hours putting everything together and now have a core site about the product we want to promote and make money by selling.

We can now revise it, make it better and continue to build traffic.

Now, the alternative was that we could have done nothing, spend each of those 7 days looking for some other magic bullet, spending money on some other product and thinking about how badly we want to make money.

Instead, we now have a method of doing it. We are closer to the Freedom we want to achieve using Small Measure Results.

What’s your goal for 2011 and how are you going to accomplish it?

Leave me a comment below and tell me what your 2011 goal is how you’re going to accomplish it. And…if you need help with it, what kind of help do you need.

One of the biggest arguments that new online marketers make is that they just can’t compete with those seasoned marketers that have a big list. While it’s true that having a big list in a niche can help you, it’s not the only way.

Building a big list of subscribers is something that you will want to do as you work progress and build your online business. However, understanding how the search engines work and getting ranked for keywords is really the secret to getting started. The problem is that many new marketers don’t understand this and they will often get frustrated quickly because popular niche topic website isn’t getting any traffic and isn’t showing up in the search engines…this not making them any money.

Great Rankings = Traffic

So, I decided to go back to the basics a few months ago. Once I began building my own products and lists I stopped giving much attention to SEO… and I’ve found out that was a big mistake. I took a few of my niche websites, some in very competitive markets, and began spending a little time on them. Not a lot of time….and….I decided to start a few new sites to see if I could take popular niche and make it to page 1 on google.

Here are a few screenshots from a market research and tracking tool I use, Market Samurai.

The first screenshot is something I was pretty excited about. My site was originally ranked really low on Google…500… needless to say, I wasn’t getting much traffic. So, I tweaked the site just a little following a little formula I found and within 2 weeks I was near position 20 on Google. A few weeks later and I’m hovering around #11. Not bad….

My next experiment was to take another site in a very competitive niche, PS3 Gaming and Red Light problems. I purchased a domain that was available that had my keywords in it…and as a special bonus I was able to land a .com domain.

Here’s what my rankings looked like over the last month or so.

A few things to note about this particular niche. My keyphrase had 5.9 Million competing broad match sites and 247,000 phrase match sites. Most people wouldn’t have touched that thinking there was too much competition.

When I first started tracking the site in Market Samurai I was in an OK position. However, I wanted some more traffic and sales from it… so I tweaked. About a month later I’m now #1 on Google for this search phrase and showing up nicely on the others… hard work? Not really… again, I went back to the formula.

So, that’s great for old sites.. but how about some new sites?

The site above I started tracking the very next day I created it. I literally built the site (via a wordpress blog), added some plugins and let it go.

As of this morning, I’m #3 for my search phrase niche site(which contains the search phrase in the domain name…are you seeing a trend?) and #1 on Yahoo. Again… a brand new site that went from nowhere to #1 on yahoo and top 3 in Google in less than 1 month.

So…what’s this formula?

Great question. It’s actually something that’s very easy and over looked, and takes very little time.

First, you don’t need a fancy blog site…it doesn’t have to look all comercial and beautiful..and also shouldn’t look ugly.

Second, you need your keyphrase in the domain name… a .com, .net or .org domain name. Some have used .info and those work, but I like the top 3.

Third, you need content… but not a lot. I was able to get indexed and ranked with just 3 posts using my keyphase in specific areas.

Fourth, you need backlinks… and not a lot. The best way to get those? Articles and press releases. Yes.. those work, and they aren’t hard to do, especially of you write your articles in a specific formate and can reuse them over and over again…

Fifth, timing…. you can’t just overload the search engines with backlinks and articles on day 1. They need to be spaced apart. I found some very helpful tools that make this super easy.

Sixth….repeat and tweak it.

Alright… so the there are a few substeps and things you should know… likely too much to put in this one post. However, I need to tell you exactly where you can see the entire formula spelled out… in detail.

I found this site called BringTheFresh. Yeah, I know…stupid name. But what I learned in just a few days from the guys that run the site was amazing. This is stuff from top notch, behind the scenes guys that know there stuff. One guy is the person behind the Rich Jerk Site and the other has been behind several of the top launches… but you’d likely never recognized their names or faces.

This guys don’t market hype. They answers emails(like me) and are extremely helpful.

Take a look at the BringTheFresh Site here and you’ll see what I mean.

Stay tuned for the Perpetual Traffic Formula Review of Ryan Deiss’ latest product launch. As with many of Ryan’s products, this will likely be some new ground that most people haven’t heard of. While many people bash Ryan and some of his selling tactics, I’ve personally purchased many of his products and found them to be very insightful and cutting edge. In fact, many people actually use his concepts to base their own products on.

A Perpetual Traffic Formula bonus is in the works and I’ll post the details for that here on this blog.

Are you ready for an unreal Affiliatedot com bonus offer? Next month, Mike Filsaime and Chris Farrell will be releasing a brand new product, AffiliateDotCom. This new service is geared toward individuals just getting started and those that need some additional support and mentorship with building their online business.

In order to put together the best affiliate dotcom bonus, I want to hear from you. If you were to grab access to a mentorship/apprentice type coaching, what bonus would be the most valuable to you?

Would it be hosting and technical assistance? Automation tools? Graphic Design or SEO help? Access to other guides, reports and tutorials? How about some additional mentoring and coaching in other areas?

This August, affiliatedot com bonus offers will be popping up all over the net, but which one will really be best for you? Remember, in order for a bonus to be valuable, it’s not the made up price tag that makes it valuable, it’s what you really need and want.

Check back on this blog on August 18th for the details of what this affiliatedotcom bonus will include.

More importantly, be sure to leave your comments below of exactly what you want to see included in this bonus package.

It was only a matter of time and as I said in some previous posts, it’s nice to be ahead of the curve.

The other day, Google’s Matt Cutts discussed how serious they are getting with video and getting ramped up for Google TV.

Even though Google owns YouTube, there are big plans to begin index more and more video across the web. So much, that Matt encourage search experts and developers to begin using video sitemaps to get their videos indexed and listed in Google.

“Video site maps is something that we’re probably going to look at a little more closely. If you tell us where your videos are, we will try to index them a little bit harder,” Cutts said. “For example, if you think about things like Google TV, coming out in the fall, it’s in everybody’s interest that all the videos that are on the web be able to be very discoverable and very searchable. If you produce videos and you haven’t done a video site map, that is something that I would definitely recommend.”

Google flat out tells you that video works and that they are looking to index it.

To get started using video the right way, check out easy niche videos. Inside you’ll see the quickest and easiest method of putting videos together and getting them indexed fast.

Everyone is looking for new methods of getting tons of traffic to their blog or website. Now, you can leverage the power of Facebook to accomplish that. There are some serious benefits to doing this and somethings that search engines like Google just won’t like.

Facebook Introduces “Like” button for off Facebook websites

There you have it. Facebook has decided to allow off Facebook sites to include “Like” or “Recommend” buttons on websites, which means you can include this feature on your own blog or website very, very easily.

Just like the image above, someone can easily be reading your blog, decide they like your post and simply “Like” it. By doing so, it will put a link directly to that page on their Facebook wall and recently activity page, just like the image below.

This is great if your viewer has lots of friends that may be interested in that topic.

It also helps build social proof and support as the Badge also lists how many people have also “Liked” or “Recommended” your site or post.

Why Google Will Hate This

The SERPS (Search Engine Page Results) display pages based on content and links, unfortunately, Facebook feeds are not indexed. What that means is that your link from Facebook will not give your site any additional weight when it comes to Google, Yahoo, Bing etc.

What is DOES mean, is that now Facebook will begin to carry more weight from social networking recommendations. Essentially, Facebook’s own internal search engine could very easily carry more power when it comes to articles, posts and content that does viral.

What About Wall Spam in Facebook?

Since “Liking” a topic or post is completely up to you, no-one else can spam your wall with links from this new out going “Like” feature. That’s great news.

So bottom line is, provide valuable content, make lots of Facebook friends and the new Like feature can be a great benefit to you since your link can now show up on hundreds or thousands of Walls.

How To Add Your Own Like Button

There are plenty of new WordPress Like button plugins available. They all essentially do exactly the same thing. Since this is all fairly new, they are all carry about the same rating and downloads. You’ll need to experiment your self.

I choose to use the “WordPress Facebook-Like” plugin and it has been performing fine so far.

If you don’t have a blog and want to include your own recommends or like button on a regular HTML website and know a little bit about HTML tags and code, you can follow the instructions located on the Facebook Site. The Facebook plugins page provides details and a like wizard to make it easy for you to include the Like button and other Facebook widgets on your site.

If You Like It, then “Like” It

If you found this information helpful, then scroll up to the top of this post and “Like” it for me. Also, please post your comments and questions below.

It’s been very interesting last few years. When I first got started, the very first marketing package I purchased was Mike Filsaime’s Butterfly Marketing. I scrimped and saved every last penny in order to purchase the $1997 course, only to find out that exactly 18 days later, it would be available as a download version for a fraction of the cost. I missed the boat on that one.

Butterfly Marketing Giveaway

A few months back, Mike decided to give away the Butterfly Marketing course. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an incredible course, but several people who spent lots of money on the course were a little upset that it was being given away for free. But, I guess that’s to be expected in the Internet Marketing industry.

Of course, there was an optional continuity program you were offered to get Mike’s newsletter. Either way, it was a good opportunity for many getting started to get a high dollar course.

Butterfly Marketing Script Goes Open Source with PLR

Many of you probably won’t know what that means. Others know exactly what that means. You can get access to the script that was being sold for $2000. You can then use the script any way you like and even put your name on it and call it your own.

Why’s that important? Well, if you’re a programmer or have access to someone with programming skills, you could modify the Butterfly Marketing Script, change the look, add some features, rebrand it, and sell it for a profit.

Sound Good? Sure it is. Will you ever “bottle it” and sell it as your own? Realistically, probably not.

Personally, I like the concept of having access to it if I ever needed it for anything else.

What’s the Catch?

So here’s the catch. Yes, the Butterfly Marketing Script is now open source and with full Private Label Rights. You can download it for Free with absolutely no obligation.

You can download Butterfly Marketing Script here

The catch is that if you want support and to be able to learn how the script works, and get access to other developers, you need to pay a fee to join the developer network.

I’ve seen some software moving in this direction, but not much. Do you need to join the developer network? If you’re planning on developing the script further and making changes, I think it would be helpful. As a programmer having been inside the code and use it myself, it can be cumbersome. Having that additional help would be worthwhile.

If you’re not a programmer and have no immediate plans to do anything with the software, just grab your open source copy and hang on it.

You can download Butterfly Marketing Script here
